Soft Evenings: How to Create a Night Routine That Actually Feels Good

Soft Evenings: How to Create a Night Routine That Actually Feels Good

I’ve been working on going to bed earlier and actually feeling ready for sleep — not just falling asleep because I’m exhausted from my phone.

When you give yourself a little time to wind down, without all the noise and pressure, it changes your whole night. You feel more clear, more calm, and honestly, more like yourself.

No strict rules here — just small things I do in the evenings to help my body slow down and my mind stop racing.

 1. Phone away 2 hours before bed

This is probably the hardest one, but also the most important.

I try to cut off my phone about two hours before I want to sleep. No podcasts, no scrolling, no random videos. It overstimulates me way more than I notice in the moment.

Putting my phone down early helps me shift out of “go mode” and actually relax.

 2. Sip something warm

This was actually the inspo behind our Sweet Dreams tea blend (launching in a few hours 👀).

I wanted something to sip at night that helped me calm down and feel ready for bed — without feeling groggy.

Some nights I drink cocoa instead. It’s cozy and gives me that childhood comfort feeling.

But either way, having something warm to drink at night is one of the easiest ways I tell my body it’s time to slow down.

 3. Light wind-down activities (that don’t need a screen)

This is when I’ll usually read a book, stretch, journal, color in my adult coloring book, or just talk with my husband and play with our cats.

These little things make my evenings feel more full — in a calm way — without needing to scroll or be entertained.

I do what feels good in the moment. Nothing forced.

 4. Shower, skin care, and soft clothes

Before bed, I always take a warm shower to wash the day off.

Then I do my quick skincare and throw on something clean and soft.

It doesn’t take long, but it helps me feel fresh and settled — like I’m telling my body, “we’re done for the day.”

 Wrap Up

If you’ve been struggling to fall asleep or just feel like your nights are too chaotic, try creating a soft routine that works for you. It doesn’t have to be perfect or long — just enough to help your body and mind shift into rest mode.

And if you’re looking for a gentle way to wind down, our Sweet Dreams tea blend launches later today 🕊️

A good night starts with a soft evening.
